University of the Philippines’ Sean Alter will team up with PBA stars to represent the Philippines in Singapore for the upcoming 2026 FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup next week on April 1–5.
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) announced that Jerrick Ahanmisi of Terrafirma, Chris Koon of Magnolia, and Ralph Cu of Barangay Ginebra will compose the 3x3 squad alongside Alter.
In an interview with GMA, the SBP executive director Erika Dy stated that their association was grateful to the leadership of the PBA and UAAP for allowing their players to represent the country in the 3x3 clash.
“We thank the leadership of the PBA and UAAP for allowing their players to represent the country in the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup,” Dy said.
“The 3x3 Program Director Ryan Gregorio and the team’s coaching staff selected a training pool, and they were all made available to join Gilas,” she added.
Moreover, the Philippines' best result in the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup came from 2022, where they reached semifinals and lost to China, 18–20, in the game for bronze.
The newly-formed connection will face Thailand and the Maldives in the Qualifying Draw to nab a spot in the 3x3 Asia Cup main stage.
