Galeries Tower staged a shocker against the unbeaten Nxled, 25-19, 17-25, 25-20, 25-21, to snare their second consecutive triumph in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at FilOil Centre.
The Galeries’ aces steered ahead as they exploited Lyann De Guzman’s errant spike weathering Chiara Permentilla’s counters to nurse a 16–10 third-set lead.
But Nxled forced a nose-out tussle, trimming their trail by one, 21–20 through defensive winners that benefited from their foes’ wayward attacks.
Refusing to falter, the Highrishers pulled away as they blocked Brooke Van Sickle’s attacks, topped by Erika Raagas’ double-spikes to complete the upset.
In an interview, the Galeries coach Aying Esteban expressed his joy after salvaging a prior straight-set defeat while stating that their adjustments were good.
“I’m very happy with how they responded today. Even though we came from a straight-sets loss, their reaction and adjustments were really good — especially on defense,” said Esteban. “You could really see that they wanted to win this game.”
Their win improved their record at 2–2 following a prior defeat against Farm Fresh, while Nxled absorbed their first loss at 3–1.
Deloria and Roselle Baliton reeled off a team-high 16 apiece, while the latter also tallied seven blocks.
Gayle Pascual and Jean Asis also chipped in double-digits with 13 and 12 markers, while setter Julia Coronel, with her plays, nabbed 15 excellent sets, correspondingly.
Meanwhile, the Nxled’s Van Sickle clinched a game-high 21 points, while Chiara Permentilla settled for 16 points, respectively.
The Galeries’ standouts aim for more victories in the preliminaries of the All-Filipino Conference.
