An initial drought could not thwart the Foxies’ rout.
Farm Fresh Foxies made easy work of Galeries Tower Highrisers after staging a 25–14, 25–15, 25–12 sweep to snap a two-game dry spell in the PVL All-Filipino Conference (AFC) preliminaries at Ynares Center, February 14.
The Lady Foxies maintained their surge in the third after ruling the earlier sets as they made a 15–4 rout through Trisha Tubu’s spikes to breach their foes’ slow defenses.
Continuing their burst, Farm Fresh then created coordinated plays while clamping down Aizo Mazo-Pontillas’ offensive efforts for a 13-point beatdown, 22–9.
They eventually sealed their first win after responding to Mazo-Pontillas’ counterattack with Tubu’s spike that the Galeries failed to snuff out.
From there, it was all about the Foxies.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, the Farm Fresh coach Koji Tsuzurabara stated that he was happy since their team finally secured their first PVL-AFC victory.
"First game, second game, we didn't win. But this time, we could win. I'm too happy," he said.
Tubu became the Lady Foxies’ double-figure topscorer after notching 17 points on 13 attacks and four blocks.
Dela Cruz and Ces Molina tallied nine apiece while Alohi Robins-Hardy, with her playmaking, reeled off 12 excellent sets and three points.
Meanwhile, the Highrisers, who recently broke a 17-game losing streak, failed to snare dual-digits with Maizo-Pontillas clinching a team-high nine points.
Farm Fresh will now test their mettle against ZUS Coffee in the All-Filipino Conference.
