Angel Otom made sure to write her name in the books after topping the women's 50-meter freestyle S4-S5 event to become the most decorated Filipina athlete in the 13th ASEAN Para Games at the 80th Birthday Aquatics Center, today.
Clocking in at 44.51 seconds, the Filipina Paris Paralympian seized her fifth gold medal and sixth overall to be named as the most bemedaled athlete of the said tourney.
“It was very fulfilling kasi nakuha ko five golds sa five individual events ko and one silver sa relay namin sa 4x50 freestyle,” Otom said in an interview with ABS-CBN.
“Noong ASEAN Para Games sa Cambodia, hindi ko nakuha fifth gold ko kasi parang feel ko hindi pa ako ready, " she added.
With the win, the 22-year-old swimmer surpassed its previous four gold and one silver medal haul in the 12th ASEAN Para Games at Cambodia.
