Adamson University (AdU) Lady Falcons bolstered their Final Four bid with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-16 romp of the University of the Philippines (UP) in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament on April 15 at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Quadricentennial Pavilion.
The Lady Falcons took the solo third place with an 8–5 record thanks to their victory, with Far Eastern University (FEU) and UST trailing at 7–5.
With momentum on their side, AdU are now one win away from clinching their first Final Four appearance since Season 85 in 2023.
“We stuck to what we trained for during preparation. We always tell the players to stay focused and locked in because anything can happen,” coach JP Yude said.
Shai Nitura headlined the win after racking up 26 points behind 23 attacks and three blocks, while Joy Aseo and Eloi Dote tallied 10 and seven markers, respectively.
As the score tied at 11–all in the third set, Adamson pulled away with a crucial 14–5 surge to cap a 68-minute sweep and mirror their first-round encounter with UP.
With the loss, the Lady Maroons dropped to 5–8 and was officially eliminated from the Final Four contention which extended their post-season slump to eight straight years.
Kianne Olango provided the lone bright spot for the losing side as she finished with a team-high 13 points.
