With the recurring matter regarding the flood control ghost projects, specifically in Bulacan, the Office of the Ombudsman has issued subpoenas to the officials involved and responsible for the five anomalous projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
As James Herbert has quoted in his book, “To be haunted is a glimpse of truth that might be best hidden." But should these lingering poisons that have stained the governance as of today be best locked away — deprived of truth, overwhelmed by lies?
According to Fredderick Vida of the Department of Justice (DOJ), Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla deputized the DOJ to conduct preliminary investigations and perform as probes in response to the disappearance, or rather, non-existence of the flood control projects. They have guaranteed that the formal court proceedings will start on November 10, 2025 at 1 p.m., prosecuting the former District Engineering Office of Bulacan 1 officials.
With that in mind, the assurance of an efficient and effective investigation has increased as the two agencies work as one to perpetuate their hoaxes. However, the assurance of concrete-based “evidence” from the accused officials seem to waver as per the recommendation that blames them of graft, malversation, perjury, and falsification of public documents.
Furthermore, the phantom projects being disclosed shows that they have not only deprived us of our rights as the country's citizens, but also is a deprivation of our right to safety. These non-existent projects have blatantly caused the deaths of many as typhoons constantly drowned provinces, while they use their stacked money as their rafts. That is, as if the government is child's play now.
Because an official who has sworn an oath to serve must act as he’s sworn an oath: not as he has sworn treachery.
On the other hand, as the Ombudsman criticizes these officials, other accused find ways to create more forged stories to further twist the reality and extent of what they had done. In spite of the fact that they have been exposed, it won't erase the solid truth — they are responsible, no more no less.
These ghosts that linger continuously, creating a horror show, are not what the country deserves. The citizens of a democratic country must act as one to diminish the unrighteous. For it is their right for a country that serves the country and doesn't serve itself.
The fury towards the current governance is an obvious evidence of their ever-evident non-professionalism in the field they've sworn to serve; and their actions right now cannot be interchanged for a rumor, a hearsay, a lie.
