The Philippines is a developing country that struggles to think about overpopulation and the rights of their own women. Yet, they're too advanced in thinking about a future child's right to live despite knowing that this is still in the belly of an unprepared or violated woman. Then would be so shocked at what will happen to these kids once they're out of the womb.
Recently in Cebu, someone found a puppy holding the bleeding head of a baby. As soon as they traced the path, they found the mother dog unusually fat — allegedly thinking that it ate the remaining body. They also found a bloody duster and an apron, which could be an attempt to cover up the baby. A rare situation, but this happens in other ways. This is a desperate action and either way they are still considered criminals. But it's more humane than to let a living baby rot and be pested.
Some would suggest turning their babies over to adoption centers because there are couples who can't conceive who would want them. Well, not everyone wants all of them according to the Philippine Orphanage Foundation as there are over 2 million orphans out there. Hard truth, if someone wants them, then why are they there? To hope for someone to pick them over the other after losing one? There's already a lot of reasons why a kid is an orphan, so if you're planning to turn them into one, better yet avoid it. Or maybe it's better to become sardines in adoption centers and live, right?
Though, to counter my own claim — some would pay a fortune to get a child. That is the business idea of a teenager from Quezon city who was arrested for selling her baby for P50,000 to pay for her tuition. Entrepreneur mindset? Probably, they were able to save some coins for milk and diapers, then gain a couple of bucks. Though after all, maybe babies deserve the chance to live, even if their life was as a transaction.
Sometimes, pro-life can consider rape victims to have an abortion. I wish I could insert a skull emoji in this article because of how pathetic this is as such an argument means a woman only deserves such care only if they were violated. Violated or not, the consequences only lie on the mother and the child — and sometimes the father if he wants to be responsible. Not the whole society.
Society is all talk, but they never contribute to the lives of the ones they preach or criticize because they are not in the same shoes as them. A child never asked to be born. It's time to give women the right to choose their bodies and not let these kids experience dying early or suffering instead.
