NEWS | Storm-Proof Learning: DepEd launches ₱1.35B for Disaster-Ready Packets
The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that they have allocated ₱1.35B to ensure education remains accessible despite the recent calamities affecting some communities, on Friday, October 24, 2025.

This move supports President Marcos Jr.’s call to safeguard both students and educators and to uphold quality education across the country.

“We want to make sure that despite typhoons, flooding, or earthquakes, our learners will have learning materials to hold onto—Education must be the last to stop and the first to recover.” DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara said.

It is said that the estimated allocation was roughly ₱950 million covering the printing and the distribution of the learning packets for students from grade 1 to 12. Each student would receive 1 packet from DepEd.

This allotment will fund the printing and delivery of learning packets, as well as training for the use of Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) materials.

Every set of packets that are distributed for the students contains 25-50 pages of activities related to literacy, numeracy, and also problem-solving skills, whereas other learning packets consists of advance and life learning skills.

Additionally, DepEd mentioned the importance of close cooperations with local governments for implementing alternative learning systems despite natural disasters and calamities, education must continue.
