According to the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham 'Bambol' Tolentino and Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Patrick 'Pato' Gregorio, Philippines will host the inagu SEA Plus Youth Games on December 2-14 2027 in Manila.
The event will feature 20 participating countries, including the 11 ASEAN members, with invitations also sent to other Asian nations such as Bahrain, Bhutan, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Macau, Nepal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and Turkmenistan.
In an interview, Gregorio remarked that the meet will help boost grassroots sports development in the country, while also stating that the tourney aligns with Palarong Pambansa and Batang Pinoy.
"It’s for the development of the country’s grassroots. Mag-align ito sa Palarong Pambansa and Batang Pinoy,” he said. “Siyempre, shoot na shoot din ito sa programa nating sports tourism. This is really very good."
The POC president also said that the Olympic Council of Asia extended support to the event in a meeting with its Director-General Dr. Husain AHZ Al-Musallam of Kuwait.
So far, nine countries have currently ratified the proposal, which are Timor-Leste, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Laos and Cambodia.
The program will feature two sports to 12 sports, five of which are Asian non-Olympic sports, one traditional sport and along with six Olympic events.
The opening ceremony will be held in Manila, while most events will take place at Pasay's SMX Convention Center in Pasay; matches in aquatics and athletics will take place in New Clark City Aquatics Center and Track Oval in Capas, Tarlac
