No more waiting in lines.
As the Philippines embraces digital requirements, Gcash users can request for official documents from the Philippine Statistics Authority(PSA) through the mobile app.
Launched on February 26, users can now ask for government documents such as birth, marriage and death certificates as well as Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) and Certificate of No Death (CENODEATH) certificates through the PSAHelpline Mini App under the Glife feature.
According to PSA National Statistician, Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa, partnering with the Ayala-led fintech and Pilipinas Teleserv reflects their vision of a citizen-centered and digitally enabled government that delivers convenient public service to Filipinos wherever they are.
In addition, the Vice President and Head of Public Sector of GCash, Cleo Celeste Santos, emphasized the importance of making essential civil registry documents easier to access 'helps citizens to participate in the digital economy and utilize the opportunities they deserve.’
Users can also opt for PSA's E-Certificate Service with a digital copy of civil registry certificates which will be obtained within the day and will be sent to the applicant's email address once completed.
As per Mapa, the e-certificates can be used in schools, companies, government agencies and other institutions as they carry the full legal weight of traditionally issued documents.
Pilipinas Teleserv Managing Director Jun Yupitun even assured that the digital documents are tamper-proof as it includes a private key and can verify the authenticity of the copies.
Birth, marriage and death certificates cost P290 each while the CENOMAR and the CENODEATH cost P345 each.
They will engage with schools, companies and other institutions to encourage accepting such modern documents.
Mapa clarified that they would still accept door-to-door delivery and walk-in services for those who prefer the tangible copy of the certificates.
