NEWS | Prepare for outages as upgrades proceed—Meralco to residents, businesses

With scheduled maintenance and facility upgrades underway, several areas in Metro Manila, Laguna, Bulacan, and Cavite will experience temporary power interruptions from April 3 to 12, Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) announced.

In an advisory, the utility firm advised residents and businesses to prepare for outages as part of ongoing line reconstruction, preventive maintenance, and system improvement works aimed at ensuring reliable electricity service.

Meralco mentioned line reconstruction works along MICT Road in Tondo Manila will be the first to cause outages on April 3.

The company added maintenance activities will also be conducted in General Trias, Cavite, including works inside Purefoods Hormel Company plants in Brgy. San Francisco.

On April 4, Meralco noted preventive maintenance and testing will be carried out at its CIPP substation in Calamba City, Laguna, affecting portions of Carmelray Industrial Park 2.

The firm stated that these works are necessary to ensure the reliability and stability of power distribution facilities in the area.

“Load normalization activities" related to the ongoing NGCP Tuy–Dasmariñas 500kV Line Project are scheduled on April 5 across multiple Cavite towns.

Meralco said affected areas include parts of Alfonso, General Emilio Aguinaldo, General Trias, Naic, Tanza, Ternate, and Trece Martires, among others.

On April 7 to 8, portions of Muntinlupa City will experience interruptions due to facility replacement works along Manila South Road in Barangay Alabang.

The company said these upgrades aim to improve service reliability in key urban areas.

Replacement of facilities and line reconductoring works along Kamuning Road are set on April 8 to 9 in Quezon City.

Meralco said affected areas include portions of Kamuning and Sacred Heart, with works scheduled overnight to minimize disruption.

Additional maintenance activities are set on April 9 in Calamba City, Laguna, and on April 12 in parts of Bulacan, including Sta. Maria and Norzagaray.

The utility firm reminded customers to take necessary precautions during the scheduled outages and to monitor further announcements for any changes.
