The Philippine National Police (PNP) sanctioned over 2,500 personnel, removing 1,120 from active service and suspended 1,425 others in 2025 after the resolution of administrative complaints, according to police officials.
Figures from the PNP Discipline, Law and Order Division showed that sanctions were handed down in 2,226 of the 4,203 administrative cases filed last year, involving a total of 6,527 police personnel.
Cases covered 5,229 police non-commissioned officers, 1,101 commissioned officers, and 197 non-uniformed employees.
Of the total number of cases, 1,369 affecting 3,124 personnel were dismissed or resulted in their clearance, while 2,843 cases involving 3,403 personnel ended with corrective sanctions.
Apart from dismissal and suspension, other disciplinary actions included:
351 reprimands
113 demotions
51 instances of withheld privileges
37 cases of salary forfeiture
36 cases of restriction
Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the data underscores the police force’s commitment to enforcing accountability and observing due process, noting that every complaint undergoes investigation before a decision is reached.
From August 26 to December 31, 2025, the PNP closed 435 cases involving 710 personnel. Of these, 94 cases affecting 258 personnel were either dismissed or led to exoneration.
During the same period, 253 personnel involved in 191 cases were dismissed from service, while 194 personnel in 94 cases were suspended. Additional penalties included demotion in 29 cases and reprimand in 17 cases.
Additionally, Nartatez emphasized that police personnel who commit violations will be dealt with accordingly, adding that the privilege of wearing the uniform carries corresponding responsibility.
