This message appeared as official government websites were defaced by anonymous hackers in support of nationwide protest against corruption.
Websites including the Tarlac City Government, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) were hacked as an act of 'hacktivism'.
The messages displayed a call to end corruption and in alignment to the 53rd anniversary of Martial Law, during the rule of the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
Additionally, it criticized different sectors of the government, also citing specific cases such as anomalies in Philhealth and flood control projects as well as Kian delos Santos's death during the Anti-drug operation in 2017.
Furthermore, it encouraged reporting any forms of corruption as it dropped the email addresses from senators, Ping Lacson, Risa Hontiveros, and Kiko Pangilinan as it is 'crucial in the fight againsts corruption'.
With this, Tarlac City Mayor Susan Yap responded that they are currently investigating the 51 flood-control projects of the previous administration.
On the other hand, ARTA acknowledged that while hacking was a demand for accountability and transparency, they highlighted that it is 'unacceptable' and encouraged reporting using resources within the community, such as the platform, Sumbong sa Pangulo.
