NEWS | 5 Cops Linked in P14-M Heist From Pampanga Contractor

Five policemen, including a station commander, are now under investigation for allegedly stealing ₱14 million from a private contractor in Porac, Pampanga.

According to Angeles City police chief Colonel Joselito Villarosa Jr., the robbery happened on Nov. 25 and the involved officers were relieved from duty on Dec. 2, noting that the announcement was issued during the Hanbi Cultural Festival held at Clark Freeport on Wednesday.

Among those implicated are a police major, three intelligence operatives, and a corporal assigned to Zambales. However, Villarosa said none of the stolen money has been turned over to his office.

Furthermore, an open letter from their colleagues to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Juanito Victor Remulla, claimed that one suspect was briefly apprehended but later released for unclear reasons.

The Porac police blotter reported that on Nov. 25, three armed men in civilian clothes entered a house in Brgy. Sta. Cruz and forced occupants into a bathroom.

After the incident, the suspects reportedly fled on motorcycles with ₱14 million belonging to a project manager of a construction company.

Meanwhile, the CCTV footage obtained by investigators allegedly identified the men, but no arrests or complaints have been filed.

The officers who wrote the letter said they accept responsibility, admitting they have failed the very people they are sworn to protect.
