FEATURE | When Plans Paint Another Picture

There are things in life that are already planned ahead—like a canvas already full of colors and elements. Yet sometimes, the outcome of these plans does not align with our vision. It is as if fate has its own way of shaping the future—a future we did not anticipate, but one that unfolds regardless.

College entrance exams are a nerve-wracking journey. It is the moment when we set our sights on our goals, deciding where to apply and which program to pursue. We tirelessly review, visualize success, and dedicate countless hours, all in the hope of receiving that long-awaited congratulatory email.

However, it is undeniable that not everyone achieves the outcome they hoped for, no matter how much effort they put in.

Seeing a “We regret to inform you” or “Not eligible” status can be heartbreaking. It feels as if all the hard work, late nights, and sacrifices were in vain. Doubt and disappointment creep in, making us question our abilities and our path.

Yet, these moments do not define our worth or limit our potential—they are merely detours, invitations to reconsider, adapt, and explore new opportunities that may be even more meaningful.

Rejection is, as they say, a redirection. At first, it may be difficult to accept, but eventually, we must realize that life goes on. When one door closes, another opens—often leading to paths we had never expected, but ones that may bring greater growth and fulfillment.

College is more than just the university you attend. A prestigious institution may contribute to one’s growth, but the future ultimately depends on the individual—on how they strive, apply their skills, and navigate the world.

So, if you fail, you may cry, but do not let yourself be drowned in despair. Hope remains, and many opportunities still await. A “congratulations” may bring joy, but a “rejection” can sometimes lead to experiences and successes far greater than we ever imagined.

In the end, life is measured not by the doors we are denied, but by the strength and courage with which we embrace the doors that open. So, keep moving forward because your canvas, your story, and your masterpiece awaits.
